Billing Beta with Freshbooks Integration

Every once in a while we like to post up a sneak peek at what we're working on. As we're pretty close to a final version of the new Billing tab on a project, I'd like to give people the opportunity to test drive this new feature. In this round of Beta testing, we are looking for people who use Freshbooks.

If you use Freshbooks and would like to export your Teamwork billable time and expenses, send us a Feedback message from within your installation and we'll enable the tab for you.

When we enable the Billing tab, you will now be able to turn on Billing for existing projects and any new projects you create.

Once you create an invoice and add time or expenses to it, you will be able to export it in various formats.
  • PDF
  • Excel
  • Freshbooks

To connect with Freshbooks, you will need to enable the Freshbooks API in your Freshbooks account and grab 2 bits of information we need:
  • Your Freshbooks API URL
  • Your Freshbooks Authentication Token

The first thing you will be asked when you authenticate successfully is to choose a client from your Freshbooks account. We'll pull these back and allow you to choose the client from the drop down. Once you pick the client the new invoice will be posted to Freshbooks. Simple and cool.

We are currently working on 2 more integrations:
  • BlinkSale
  • Harvest
Once we have finished this round of Beta testing, we'll release this to everyone and it will be available to all customers of Teamwork. We'll post up a full blog post of how it works and how best to use it.

TeamworkPM App is now available to download in the App store.

That's right people, it's been a long old wait but the TeamworkPM iPhone App is now finally available for download from the App store.

The app at the moment is what we are calling, version 1. Like we do with the actual TeamworkPM web App, we plan to roll out a whole load of updates to improve the app over time. We just needed to get to a starting stage so we could get the app live. From here on out, we can now begin to gather feedback and use this to help us piece together a plan as to how to develop the app further. This will help us focus on features that people actually need as opposed to us just building features we think people will want.

A/B Test Results are In: TeamworkPM's New Pricing Page gives 27% gain in sign-ups

Hey Everyone,

Just thought I'd share this with you.. About a month ago we rolled out a new pricing page for www.teamworkpm.net. Before we committed to the new design, we decided to run an experiment using Google Website Optimiser to see how it compared with the old page; so 50% of visitors got the old version and 50% got the new version.

It's 6 weeks later and the results are in. It's definitive: The new version of the pricing page yields a 27.7% improvement on the number of users who sign up!.

Here is the old version:

And here is the new much improved version:

Goes to show, clean and simple beats information overload every time.

Let us know how you manage your projects

Well it's the start to another wonderful week of work! You may also be unaware that it is now ONLY 14 weeks till Christmas!! "Where did the year go?", I hear you ask? Well now that the panic is setting in and you realise the end of the year is fast approaching - along with the deadlines for targets that you have set either professionally or personally.

Yep this is something a lot of us go through and to try combat this panic we plan and then plan some more in the hope that it takes some of the shock out of situations like these. Helping people with planning and managing their projects is the name of the game with TeamworkPM and recently I have been spending a lot of time on the phone talking to customers listening to their stories on how they use TeamworkPM and how they manage their projects.

After a whie the same question kept coming up, "how do other customers use TeamworkPM to manage their projects?" This is always something other people are really interested in. People are willing to listen and lean how others manage projects and to see what parts and processes they can bring forward into their business to help make their projects run more smoothly.

What we are now looking to do is to either produce a few videos or even some blog posts with screen shots of how people manage their projects. If you would like to share your experience and know-how of running a successful project please feel free to contact me sam@teamworkPM.net it's also a good chance to plug your business or product as well ;-)

Below is the first video I shot of a local customer who users TeamworkPM to manage their projects. They are a branding and communications company based just out of Cork, city Ireland Kunnert and Tierney

New Feature - Customizable All Time Report

We have had an All Time report for quite some time now which allows you to see time for a specific user, across all projects between a certain date range. To generate a report, we provided a quick Filter bar.

This worked well to filter time logs between dates but it was up to you to sort through the report to find the projects you wanted.

Lots of people wanted this improved and we received quite a few feedback emails and suggestions. Today, we've released a new option on this page:

The Custom Report button allows you to define more parameters for the report.

The form fields change depending on previous selections which makes this a very usable and compact form while offering the functionality people requested.

For example, you can now say:
"Give me all time logs between this date and that date for Person X across all Company Y's projects. Oh yeah, only show me billable time!"

The report will be generated and visible on the screen and as always, you can export it as Excel, CSV or a nicely formatted PDF report.

Hope this helps all you folks who emailed and keep the suggestions coming!

"The Play" - It's Our Feel Good Friday Video

I'm a bit of a sports fan so i just had to post this video up, and whether you enjoy American football or not this has to is one of the greatest endings of any sports game, ever. It's also made better by the great commentating throughout the video and just how excited they get.

Todays feel good video is taken from the game between The University of California's Golden Bears and the Stanford University Cardinal's on Saturday, November 20, 1982.

Who wants to try out the iPhone app?

It's been a very long time coming but we have now finished our iPhone App, well version 1 anyway. It has been approved by Apple to release in to the App store, but before set it live we would like to get some TeamworkPM users to take it for a bit of a test drive first before we fully release it on to the App store.

So how do you get the App?

To start off we are going to give the App out to just 30 people, to be one of these 30 people you must tweet out to us @teamworkPM that you want to test out the new iPhone app. (make sure you are following us so I can then send you a direct message about how to set it up.)

How do I get the App to run?

To get the App running on your iPhone we will need you UDID, there is a free app called, funny enough UDID, just download this in the app store then run it and you will see your ID, we will need this to get your phone aurthorised to use the App. Once we have this we will send direct message you with a link to install the App. You will then need to go into your TeamworkPM account, click on your name and go to 'My details'. The last tab is called API and this is where you will find your token to authenticate yourself. You then take this code and enter it into the settings area within the iPhone App. Once this is down you are now good to go :-)
