New Feature: Complete or Uncomplete tasks and milestones by replying to email notifications

Have you ever been out and about and received an email notification on your mobile device that a task or milestone has been assigned to you or a comment on a task has been added and you want to mark it complete quickly?

Now you can simply reply to the email with a simple directive and the task will be marked complete. You can even re-open tasks via email if another person marks the task as done and you feel it's not.

We've allowed a few variations on the directives:

  • #Complete
  • #Completed
  • #Done
  • #Uncomplete
  • #Reopen
  • #Open
  • #NotDone
  • #Reopened

It's really easy to do and will work on any email notification relating to a task or milestone such as the assignment emails, edited emails, comments on task/milestone notification and the complete/reopened emails. Simply reply to the email with #Complete or #Uncomplete.

We went one step further and merged the Complete/Uncomplete directives with adding a comment. If you only reply with a directive, we'll mark the task or milestone complete/reopened; but if you use a directive and add more text underneath the directive we'll mark the task or milestone complete/reopened and also add the extra text as a comment.

We hope you'll enjoy this small but useful enhancement to the reply-by-email functionality. We plan to extend this to the Milestone notification emails in the next few days.

Update: (15th November 2012)

Milestones can now be marked complete/reopened by replying to Milestone related emails

Milestone schedule can now be shifted backwards.

When you edit a milestone Teamwork alerts you if this date change could affect your schedule. Before this month only linked milestones could be shifted forward. We now have added the abillity to shift milestones forward, backward and also have an option to shift associated tasks by the same amount.

To use this new feature, go through to the Milestones tab and select the milestone which you wish to re-schedule.

Select your new date using the date picker and click on update milestone. Once you do this you will be prompted with another screen giving you the option to ignore changes to your Milestone Schedule or to modify affected Milestones. If you don't want to modify other Milestones, just close this dialog. If you do want to review your Milestone Schedule, proceed and select which other Milestones on the project you wish to either push back or push forward by the same duration.

We'll show you the dates of your current Milestones and also the dates that they will be moved to. You can click Options to specify if you want weekends factored in to the move and also if you want to move any associated tasks by the same duration.

Once you have selected the milestones you want to shift, click Update and your project will be re-scheduled.

All that's left now is to actually do the work and make sure you can meet these new targets.

(Unfortunatly there is not much we can do to help you out here, so you better put the head down and get back to work!)

Assign multiple people to milestones coming very soon

We have a few nice new features locked in that we are looking to push live onto the system in the coming days. One of these updates is related to the milestone tab within a project. Like we now have with tasks, once this update goes live you will be able to assign milestone to multiple people.

When you create a milestone now you will be given the option to click on the little + sign under the who's responsible box to assign the milestone to more than one user. We feel this is an important feature to have within a project as a milestone is really the end point or goal that most people within a project are working towards so the ability to be able to assign certain milestones within a project to more then one person is really vital.

As with all our features within TeamworkPM if you have any feedback or questions, just click on the feedback link at the bottom of your install to send a message through to us.

We hope you enjoy this new feature.
